Micah Fries (pronounced Freeze) is the Senior Pastor of Brainerd Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN. Prior to serving at Brainerd, he served as the Vice President of LifeWay Research in Nashville, TN and as a frequent speaker in churches and conferences. He has served as a Senior Pastor in Missouri and an international church planter in Burkina Faso, West Africa. He holds a Master of Divinity from Midwestern Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from The Baptist College of Florida. While in college, Micah met Tracy, and they married in May of 2000. Micah is currently a Ph.D. student, studying North American Missiology at Southeastern Seminary. After college graduation Micah & Tracy moved to Burkina Faso, West Africa where they worked as church planters among the Dagaara people of Burkina Faso and Ghana. After planting churches in West Africa, Micah and Tracy returned to the US where they moved to Kansas City so that Micah could attend seminary.
Micah has previously served as a Senior Pastor at two churches; first at Missouri Valley Baptist Church in Halls, MO, and then Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church in St. Joseph, MO. Micah and Tracy are parents to two daughters, Sarah Grace & Kessed Noel, and a son, Haddon.
Micah previously served as the President of the Missouri Baptist Convention Pastors' Conference and as Second Vice President of the Missouri Baptist Convention.
Micah is the author of a commentary volume on Haggai and Zephaniah in the Christ-Centered Commentary Series. Micah, along with Dr. Keith Whitfield, is co-editing Islam & North America, an upcoming book on engaging North American Muslims. Micah is co-writing a book on church leadership with Jeremy Maxfield that will be published by Moody Press in the Spring of 2019. Micah is a Guest Lecturer in the Doctoral program at Anderson University. Micah is also a Fellow at the Billy Graham Center at Wheaton College.
