Weekend Worship :: Amazing Grace

This past Sunday, as we worshiped at Frederick, something electric happened as we sang Chris Tomlin's rendition of Amazing Grace. The congregation stood to their feet as one and all over the worship center it was exciting to see people passionately worshiping God. Some of you who have read this site for some time know that Amazing Grace is my favorite song of all time. In many ways I feel like it is my testimony. In honor of that incredible song, and the passionate worship we experienced last Sunday, I'm going to give you a lot of Amazing Grace this week. I've collected a number of different versions of Amazing Grace and each one speaks powerfully to me. I hope they speak to you as well. I've begun with the Chris Tomlin version that we sang this past weekend. Next is quite possibly the greatest bass player of our generation, Victor Wooten, playing an instrumental version. Be aware, however, that Amazing Grace doesn't start in earnest until about a minute and a half into the video. Next is Wintley Phipps at a Gaither Vocal Band Homecoming concert singing and also sharing a beautiful message about the song, you won't want to miss that one. Following that is a tremendous version sung by the ever entertaining Charlotte Church. Concluding the series is an instrumental version performed by harmonica specialist, Terry McMillan at another Gaither Homecoming special.

I hope you enjoy...
