The least of these…

A short while ago I asked the question, what can be done about churches becoming the hands and feet of Christ in the world? I had a few good responses, but it still doesn't seem like many churches are tackling this problem. We've been working through this at our church, and tonight we decided to embark into new waters. I'm very excited to unveil Servant Sundays. For some time we have watched our Sunday evening service flounder. So as of October 1st, our Sunday evening service will dissapear and be replaced by

Servant Sundays. We will alternate weekly between different needs ministries. Right now we anticipate being involved with a nursing home, a homeless shelter and possibly a battered women's shelter. I'm very, very excited about the opportunity to do new ministry, and to create a situation where families can do ministry together.

"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you wh

o are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see

you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'

"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
