More resources on the Great Commission Resurgence

After spending a few days in lovely Branson, Missouri, I arrived back in St. Joseph and got caught up on the news occurring in SBC life and noticed that the Great Commission Resurgence continues to strike a chord of interest among many, many Southern Baptists. Since released by SBC President, Johnny Hunt, on Monday, it continues to grow in influence and today has well over 1,000 signatures - including some of the most influential Baptists in SBC life - collected in support of the GCR Declaration. Yesterday the North Carolina Baptist Convention published an article written by Douglas Baker, in which they highlighted a recent Simple Church conference held in their state. The conference was headlined by LifeWay President, Dr. Thom Rainer, along with his co-author, and son, Sam Rainer. Interestingly enough, however, it seems as though much of what they dealt with at the conference continued to point back towards a bloated denominational bureaucracy and the need for change which will foster a greater commitment to biblical mission than we've ever had before. Douglas has some great quotes in the article and I would encourage you to run over and take a look.
