Childbirth :: Part IV

I have been told by doctors and by various women that have had the opportunity to give birth to children, and also have experienced the pain of kidney stones, that kidney stones are very much akin to the pain of childbirth. If that is true, then I am currently in the process of giving birth for the fourth time. Those of you who know a little bit about me know that when we were missionaries in Africa, we were sent home due to the pain of an undiagnosed kidney stone that I had for over 5 weeks. Since that time I've had two additional bouts with stones and this morning I woke up at 6:45am and realized, through a series of events that I'll spare you from explaining, that I was about to undergo my fourth bout with a stone. After 4 and half hours of excruciating pain I'm feeling relief right now. Unfortunately I'm fairly convinced that the relief is a combination of the stone deciding to stay still, instead of moving, and also due to that wonderful elixir! known as Vicodin rather than because I've actually passed the stone. In my time of relief I'm attempting to get some work done here on the computer before the stone starts moving again and I'm down in pain again. So, if you think about it, please pray for the quick passing of this stone. I'm fairly ready for that to happen! :-)

I'm thinking that once I pass (aka deliver) this stone, I'll have to name it Benoni!
