Encouraging statement For a long time conservatives have done too little to monitor, or protect the environment. We have been known as indifferent towards environmental causes and we have been guilty of derision towards "tree huggers" far too much. I personally am excited to see many evangelicals taking a stand on the environment and encouraging others to help steward God's creation. Many evangelicals signed the Evangelical Climate Initiative today. You can read the actual intiative here. Baptist Press also wrote a good article about it and noted that James Dobson, Chuck Colson and Richard Land refused to sign the intiative. I applaud the wonderful evangelical leaders who did sign it (men like Timothy George, Wellington Boone, David Dockery, Jack Hayford, Rick Warren and Brian McLaren) and I encourage the ones who did not to reconsider their opposition.
