It seems to me that a significant number of the controversies that we experience in our churches, and really Evangelicalism in general, revolve around our differing perspectives on how theology & culture should relate to each other. Borrowing from Neibhur, our varying perspectives of Christ & culture lead to dramatically different beliefs about how we should practice our faith.
In light of that it’s encouraging to see Dr. Bruce Ashford, the Dean of the undergraduate program at Southeastern Seminary, tackling the topic. He has just posted the first in a series of articles on the topic. I would strongly encourage you to check it out. You can access it by clicking here.
