Talking Cooperative Program

While at the Southern Baptist Convention this summer in Phoenix, my good friend Jon Akin took a few minutes to have a conversation with Dr. Bruce Ashford, Dr. Jimmy Scroggins and me. While many of you may not know much about the CP, it is the denominational funding mechanism that we use in Southern Baptist life to support missions. The program has been successfully used to raise almost $15 billion for missions since its inception in 1925. Believe it or not, the original motion to consider creating the CP came from a a man who hailed from right here in St. Joseph and was a member of First Baptist Church. So, if you are curious about the CP, what it’s challenges are as well as what it’s values are, this might be a helpful place to dig in further.

Micah is a husband to Tracy & a daddy to Grace, Kessed & Haddon. He’s Senior Pastor at Brainerd Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN. Most of all, he’s a debtor to grace.
