Switchfoot rocked

I haven’t said anything yet about the Switchfoot concert on Tuesday night mostly because we had a death in the church on Tuesday evening as well and my week has been very busy. The concert, though, was amazing. If you love guitar driven rock & roll, particularly the kind that has a strong message, then this concert was for you! I have met Switchfoot once, about a year and a half ago, but had never seen them in concert. I’m telling you, these guys put everything they had in that concert. It was unbelievable.

Beyond that, while I was watching them play, it occurred to me that in all of our efforts to “reach teenagers” (many of which are good efforts, I believe) it’s rare for us to have an audience, or connect and communicate with an audience of teenagers as well as Switchfoot did on Tuesday night. Their ability to preach a message that the audience needed to hear was second to none. I’ve posted a few pics below that another couple in our church who came with us took. I also posted a video that someone else took from the concert that night (be warned, however, that the video and the audio don’t exactly sink up).

This one of Jon Foreman body surfing, before he went through the entire audience singing, is a sweet picture but can’t even come close to communicating how awesome that part of the concert was.
