Here’s a few links that have caught my attention lately.

  • ChristianAudio.com, this site allows you to purchase, and download mp3’s of your favorite Christian books. For someone on the run, this is a great way to consume Christian literature via your ipod or mp3 player. What’s even better is that each month they offer a different book for free. This month is Confessions by Augustine! Check it out.
  • Ranking the SBC blogosphere. My friends Ed Stetzer and Les Puryear have played around a bit, trying to rank the blogs that exist in SBC life. I don’t write a whole lot anymore about SBC issues, but I still get a decent amount of traffic, which is appreciated.
  • My buddy Art Rogers is writing on the Missional Church. He’s produced an interesting series of articles. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
  • For the next two days I’ll be at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Liberty, Missouri enjoying the Leadership Summit which is the brainchild of Bill Hybels and Willow Creek. Get to hear from Hybels, Craig Groeschel,  John Burke, Chuck Colson and more!
  • Got some tickets from my friend Tom Brager today to go watch the Royals and Twins on Friday night. They include an incredible parking pass and tickets in the lower level, down the third base line. I always love a game at Kaufman Stadium.

If you are a church leader - whether a paid church leader or a volunteer -I would really recommend that you read this article written recently by Tim Keller, Senior Pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church, on Process Managing Church Growth. In it he walks throught he various fluxuations and adjustments needed to foster church growth and the various differences that exist depending on the size of your church. If you are involved in leadership with a church in any way, you really should read this article. [Click Here]

On a completely different note, this new car is amazing! Unbelievably gorgeous.

What a gift!

A week ago a sweet lady in my church presented to me a gift that blew me away! She handed me a shoebox and inside was two books. The first was a King James Version of the Bible that was originally published in 1865 by George E. Eyre and William Spottiswoode. The 2nd book was a book called “The Royal Path of Life” and was printed in 1880. The Bible includes the apocrypha, which is a bit fascinating to me. I am a pretty big history nut and so these are incredible, in my opinion. They will be put together with my other biblical artifact, that being a page out of a 1607 Geneva Study Bible that was given to me about 8 years ago.

So, that brings me to my questions. Does anoyne reading know anything about these books? I would love to know more about them. A cursory Google search turned up little information. I’ve included pictures that I took this evening below. Let me say thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Weekend Worship :: Made me glad

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a Weekend Worship. Unfortunately life with our church has simply consumed about 115% of my time, energy and resources lately. I have posted occasionally when something has popped up, but otherwise haven’t had any time. Anyway, Tracy is getting ready to lead worship for a group of women this weekend and was singing through some music and I heard her sing this song and I thought it would be great to post it this weekend. I hope it encourages you.

After quite some time, I am very happy to share that our podcast is finally up and running! I know, I know, we should have had this working a long time ago. Unfortunately, a series of issues arose that caused challenges. None the less, it is now functional and you can access it through itunes, or by just subscribing to this link.

Much thanks to Jim Lumpkins who has taken the podcast on as his task. Jim is uploading a number of recent messages so if you go to the podcast, you should find a decent selection available.
