It appears that the search committee for the North American Mission Board has selected Geoff Hammond as their candidate to be the new president. I hear from other sources that the announcement regarding his recommendation will occur officially this afternoon.
In my opinion this is a tremendously exciting choice! Between his cross-cultural experience, his history with Southern Baptists and his commitment to church planting I am very optimistic of the future of NAMB with him at the helm. In addition, and of particular interest to many of us, in talking with others who have worked with him I have been told that administration is one of his strongest qualities. Now let us hope that his administrative skills can be coupled with previously avoided transparency and it’s more than quite possible that NAMB can become equal to the IMB in force and impact into the lost world.
