Must read article

For those who follow life within the Southern Baptist Convention and understand anything of the nuances that we in SBC life have experienced over the past 30 years, Dr. Steven McKinion has hit a home run with his recent article discussing the young generation of up and coming Southern Baptists. I see myself in much of what Dr. McKinion has written and I would commend this article to you.

  1. well, my last comment was kind of long so i’ll try to make it brief this go around (and hope it posts)

i was basically saying that i’m glad to finally see an article that agrees with what i’ve been trying to say for years. i honestly feel like the last generation of christians (as a whole) have been completely un-relevant to the culture surrounding them and have left the church in ruins. too much fakeness and too much aristocracy, i believe, has led to the current state of, not only our country, but our churches as well.

they shunned the world and wanted nothing to do with its people. they didn’t have any interest in learning God’s Word or digging deep into what they were being taught. this has left a generation of christians who have been unable to defend their faith when it mattered most.

i think this current generation of christians (and the ones following) see how this just isn’t working. they’re doing everything they can to bring the church back to relevancy and, in most cases, succeeding at it.

i feel southern baptists churches still have a long ways to go before they are truly relevant in today’s society, but i feel like a lot of them are on the right path.
