KU KO's Memphis

I love sports, and I particularly love basketball and I sincerely enjoyed last night’s game. Although I would much prefer to have watched my Gators repeat, watching KU win it all was very enjoyable for me. Although I’m not a KU fan, there are few programs and few coaches in the country classier than KU and Bill Self. I particularly enjoyed the comeback that KU put together and their willingness to push forward in the face of difficult odds, down 9 with 2 minutes to go.

Way to go KU fans! Now I just hope that you can keep your coach from leaving for Oklahoma State.

Micah is a husband to Tracy & a daddy to Grace, Kessed & Haddon. He’s Senior Pastor at Brainerd Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN. Most of all, he’s a debtor to grace.

  1. Allow me a little counter point. I was astounded by the grace Roy Williams showed after being treated horribly by KU fans who showed their hindquarters during the matchup w/NC. They showed an amazing lack of class and, though I was previously for them to win, I rooted for Memphis during the championship.

There is no doubt that they earned the championship, and I don’t deny them the right to crow that they are the best. They clearly outplayed everybody.

Nevertheless, I lost a LOT of respect when they booed Roy and even more when I read some of the other things they’ve said and done since he left.

Oh, and for the KU fan who will retort that Roy promised not to leave, let me say that you have an amazing ability to miss the truth. After that speech at the Fieldhouse, the Administration began to fall apart and seriously deteriorated his standing and, more importantly, peace of mind. KU was no longer the enjoyable place it once was, despite the fans’ having fun. They didn’t have to deal with the AD every day.

I hope they enjoy it. Maybe now they can move on and treat someone who obviously treasures them more than they treasure him with just a modicum of respect.

  2. It was a sad day for a great program and I just couldn’t make myself pull for them. Still, a great end to the season but let’s see if they are able to hang onto their coach.
