Just a reminder

I thought it might be appropriate, what with all the disagreements over methodology and theology that are swirling around the blog world, to remind you that we are not our enemies. God has blessed us with each other, in all our diversity. Let’s work together for the growth of the kingdom.

I ran across this quote tonight from an internet posting. It helped put things into perspective for me.

Missionaries of any religion are the lowest form of life above pedophiles

We are not the enemies, sin is the enemy.

Remember the words I spoke to you: ‘No servant is greater than his master.’[a] If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. John 15:20

Micah is a husband to Tracy & a daddy to Grace, Kessed & Haddon. He’s Senior Pastor at Brainerd Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN. Most of all, he’s a debtor to grace.

  1. Thanks for that. I think sometimes keeping our intake of opinions narrow leads us towards fighting the edge of whatever spectrum of thought we’re immediately familiar with. It only takes a look beyond that spectrum to find out how much we believers really have in common. We should all be actively seeking that which we can be united upon, and that of course is Christ.

  2. Great word, Micah!

It is so easy to get caught in the trap of “tit for tat,” responding in kind to the faux pas’s, and areas of disagreement, of our brothers and sisters in Christ.

That doesn’t mean just “shut up” and let things go by unchecked. But, it does mean to be very careful to keep a watch over our tone and attitude in the things we say, and let grace rule over our hearts at all times.

  3. This highlights what I love about going to Red Hills Baptist Church. It doesn’t get much different from the SBC paradigm than to go to an all-black church that prays like they mean it and praises like they believe what they’re saying and singing.

I took brief .MPG’s of their opening worship, a praise chorus, and some of their prayer time when I was there a few days ago. I watch them now and again just to revive my spirit.
