Thanks for this reminder, Micah. I believe pride is the most damaging thing in any believer's life. We tend to give it different names like ambition, self-respect, etc. I am convinced that the opposite of love is not hate, but selfishness. Appreciate the message.

I think I've quoted that Ron Swanson line to my wife about 50 times during breakfast.

Great application to Jesus' hard sayings.

As a bookaholic, and "assuming" we are not referring to the Word of God...:
(in no order)
**Pursuit of Holiness (and anything else by Bridges)

**The Cross of Christ, John R. W. Stott

**What's So Amazing About Grace? Phil Yancey (not endorsing everything, but Spirit used it to begin my addiction to grace)

**The Explicit Gospel by Matt Chandler...haven't even finished it yet, but...wow...

Again, this list is rather fluid...but all of the above (including Micah's choices) are heartily recommended...just guard against the danger of reading books about the Book instead of prioritizing on the Book

Micah,

i know these are late comments but just found this article surfing about CP. you make a great point here - one which i try to emphasize in my own promotion of CP at Southwestern - we have a God sized vision of CP - the vehicle and stewardship he has given us to advance the kingdom. we def need to talk more of how lives are being impacted through our missionary efforts support through CP.

the challenge is that pastors like yourself are the gatekeepers of communicating that impact - the info is already overwhelmingly provided regular basis through the agencies. our churches just don't do a good job of talking about it - AT ALL (i do a survey on campus of exposure to CP as well as IMB/NAMB info-resources about missionaries we support through CP and the results are startling - at least 60% of students hear little to nothing in their churches about CP). we have all sold ourselves the line that we give to CP - not just the agencies. if we are true to our ecclesiology, the problem of understanding CP begins in our churches not with the agencies. we need to encourage our pastors to cast the true CP vision in their churches!

appreciate your commitment for our generation brother - i'm with you!

In His Grace,

Quincy
