Fantasy Football already?

I know, I know, it’s just the middle of the summer. Hardly time to begin thinking about football, right? Well that is unless you happen to be a rabid fan. :-) I love Fantasy Football and have had my own league for a number of years now. This past year was the lone exception as I joined a friend’s league. This year, however, I’m setting up a league again and I’m looking for people who want to play. I’ve invited 12 other people to play and since it is a 20 team league, I’m looking for 7 people who are interested in joining. If you are interested, please contact me using the contact form here on the site and let me know. I’ll send you an invitation and we’ll get ready for the season.

I wish I wasn’t

On nights like this I wish I could just stop being a Royals fan. We’re winning by a score of 8-3 in the 9th inning and we have one of the top bullpens in all of baseball. So, what do we do? Well, we proceed to lose on a home run in the 10th inning. This 10 game losing streak is as bad as I can remember any losing streak in recent Royals history, and that’s saying something. I still love the Royals, but tonight I wish I didn’t.

Ugh.

There are very few things I enjoy more than a day out at Kaufman Stadium watching the Royals, especially when we’re completing a sweep of the Tigers. :-) I thought I’d put up a few pictures that we took this afternoon.

This first pic is of Tracy and I after the game was over.

This next shot is of Royals young phenom, Billy Butler, as he takes a swing.

This third is of the team as they’re preparing for the 9th inning.

This final picture is Tracy and I along with our friends Ricky and Ashley who went to the game with us.

I’m sitting here on my living room couch, watching the Florida Gator spring football game on ESPN on my laptop and it’s been snowing all day. Disgusting (the snow that is, obviously not the Gators who look great right now!)

KU KO’s Memphis

I love sports, and I particularly love basketball and I sincerely enjoyed last night’s game. Although I would much prefer to have watched my Gators repeat, watching KU win it all was very enjoyable for me. Although I’m not a KU fan, there are few programs and few coaches in the country classier than KU and Bill Self. I particularly enjoyed the comeback that KU put together and their willingness to push forward in the face of difficult odds, down 9 with 2 minutes to go.

Way to go KU fans! Now I just hope that you can keep your coach from leaving for Oklahoma State.

Mizzou Mistake

Somewhat lost in this interesting NCAA championship time of the year is this interesting tidbit that I heard today from one of the Elders in our church. In 1999 the University of Missouri hired Quinn Snyder. Most people in Missouri unfortunately cannot forget that. What many may not remember, however, is that Mizzou interviewed three people for the MU job before hiring Snyder. What other two candidates make that illustrious list you ask? Why that would be the two coaches in the national championship game, Bill Self and John Calipari.

Wow, how do you make that mistake and keep your job? No wonder Mizzou is watching the Big Dance from home.

Ok, I know it seems strange to admit it, but I’m a Kansas City Royals fan. I’m not just a little fan either. I love the Royals. I listen to almost every game on the radio, if I’m not in attendance at Kaufman Stadium. I eat up all the minor league reports I can. I read at least 3 Royals blogs a day. I love the Royals. That may say something about my mental aptitude, but let’s not go down that road. ;-)

Anyway, I’m very excited (as usual) about the upcoming season. Only 6 days until Opening Day! Yesterday, though, our very speedy reserve outfielder, Joey Gathright, made an amazing play that I had to share with you. The video is posted below, if you haven’t seen it yet. Keep in mind that the guy he’s jumping over is 6′1″ tall. This is an incredible play.
