Wednesday is for photos?

Well, Wednesday is not generally the popular day to post photos, but I took a few today that I wanted to share. We drove our girls over to Hannibal, on the eastern side of the state, today to drop them off with their grandparents who are taking them to Florida. On the way back Tracy and I walked through the woods to see an old covered bridge. The bridge used to be over a creek and used to be in use. Neither of those things are true today. It’s now preserved as a Missouri State Historic Place. It was beautiful. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

There are very few things I enjoy more than a day out at Kaufman Stadium watching the Royals, especially when we’re completing a sweep of the Tigers. :-) I thought I’d put up a few pictures that we took this afternoon.

This first pic is of Tracy and I after the game was over.

This next shot is of Royals young phenom, Billy Butler, as he takes a swing.

This third is of the team as they’re preparing for the 9th inning.

This final picture is Tracy and I along with our friends Ricky and Ashley who went to the game with us.

My yard is soup

We began having a number of freak thunderstorms today. The worst of it was that the wind was so hard, it uprooted a 30-40′ tree in my backyard. I’ve got to find a way to clean it up tomorrow! Unfortunately we didn’t realize that until it was too dark to take a picture. We did get some pictures, or I should say Tracy got some pictures, of the pond that my backyard has become as well as the hail that covered our yard today.

This is a good pictorial look at what Missouri can be like.

Session 4 :: Dr. Chris Schofield :: Effective Prayer Ministry in the Small Church

Well, after a little bit of sleep last night we’re back for day 2 of the conference which promises to be an exciting one. Last night was a fun evening for me because a really good friend of mine, Patrick Fuller, is a local pastor at Southside Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC and Patrick came down and spent some time with me after the conference ended. Patrick and I were really good friends during college. I was a groomsman in his wedding and he was in mine. We don’t get to see each other that often so it was really nice to see him and hear about the good things that God is doing at Southside.

The highlight of today’s schedule, while looking at the itinerary, is hearing Dr. Frank Page, SBC President, speak this evening. Until then, however, I’m looking forward to hearing a couple of friends speak. Kevin Bussey will speak in just a few minutes on how the small church can engage in Church Planting. Kevin, for those of you who know him, is wearing a suit and tie. I promise to post a picture. ;-) C.B. Scott is also speaking this morning. C.B. is a man that I really admire in SBC life. I’m looking forward to hearing him share about seeing how God is at work in the small church.

Right now Dr. Chris Schofield, who works with the Prayer and Spiritual Awakening Department of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina is sharing on how you can have an effective prayer ministry in the small church. I’ve thrown a picture up of Dr. Schofield and will hopefully have the audio up soon.

Child Dedication

March 2, 2008

Today was an exciting day of worship for a number of reasons. One reason in particular was that we had an opportunity to dedicate a few children to the Lord. One of those children was my youngest daughter Kessed. Tracy has posted a few pictures from the event on her blog, but I thought I would stick two of them on my site as well.

Since the snow hit this morning and we had to cancel all our services at church, we spent more time at home than usual. As is to be expected, the girls wanted to go out and play in the snow. While we were getting them ready, I had to take this picture of Kessed. Pretty cute don’t you think?

For Valentine’s Day this year my Mother in Law sent Tracy and me a great gift! She went back through her pictures and pulled out a variety from the time that Tracy and I first met, over 10 years ago, to now. She put them all together in a photo album for us. I’ve really enjoyed spending some time looking back through the pics. The pictures are a blast to reminisce over, although most of them tend to be a bit embarassing as well. :-) I’m not generally known as the coolest kid on the block. Anyway, I loved the album so much that I scanned all the pics into the computer tonight and converted them into a digital photo album. Most of you probably couldn’t care less, but in case you are interested, you can see it for yourself by going to www.friesville.net/photo. I plan to update it as the year’s go by. I figure it will be a nice piece for Tracy and I to enjoy and for our girls to look back on.
