I wanted to take a minute and publicly say a big, big thank you to our Worship Pastor, Chad, and the rest of the choir members who volunteered last night for the Skaith School Christmas concert! What an amazing team you all make! I walked in and was blown away by the fact that there were well over 1,000 people in our main building and your faithfulness was helping build bridges with them. It was particularly exciting to me, knowing that most of those in attendance last night were unchurched families and through our relationship with them, we are developing opportunities to show them the love of Christ. You all are fantastic examples of the wonderful people we have in the Frederick family. Thank you so much!

  1. What a great outreach for your church – hosting school events is a great way to just make yourselves known….

As a public school administrator, I can share how exciting it is for our churches – on ocassion – to offer services and/or space with no strings attached. It’s a win-win situation.

Now, Micah, here’s the big question, did you charge them a fee for building use? The reason I ask is that we’ve actually had a church offer their building for our use, but then turn around and charge us a $450 fee. I certainly think we need to pay for custodial services, and if we as the district need their space we WILL pay what they ask. BUT, as a christian, I would prefer that MY congregation just offer…for the pleasure of hosting unchurched folks at an event. Just my 2 cents.

The answer to your question is no. We do not charge for using the building. We have established ourselves with this school as an “official” business partner. As such we work with them throughout the year on a number of projects.
