Mizzou Mistake
Somewhat lost in this interesting NCAA championship time of the year is this interesting tidbit that I heard today from one of the Elders in our church. In 1999 the University of Missouri hired Quinn Snyder. Most people in Missouri unfortunately cannot forget that. What many may not remember, however, is that Mizzou interviewed three people for the MU job before hiring Snyder. What other two candidates make that illustrious list you ask? Why that would be the two coaches in the national championship game, Bill Self and John Calipari.
Wow, how do you make that mistake and keep your job? No wonder Mizzou is watching the Big Dance from home.
Howdy! My name is Micah Fries and I am a husband, daddy and pastor who loves to discuss life, theology, culture and variety of other issues.

Ah, true, very true…But what Mizzou alums do remember is how esteemed Snyder was, at the time, as a shining light for the future, trained in the trenches at a prestigious basketball program. That makes the disaster that was the QS hiring all the more hard to take.
QS is now coaching the Austin Toros of the NBA development league. Ricky Clemons is not on the roster.
I think the worst part of it is that we are now longing for the Snyder days. That’s how bad it is right now.
You have to give Anderson a little more time. I think he’s a competent coach, he just needs his own recruits in there… Then again, who am I to prognosticate on MU hoops? I prefer to focus on NCAA teams this time of year. (Oh, smack!
The redesign looks great, Micah.
Self would have been a good hire. Who knows if he would have accepted. I think Caliparri would have been similar to Snyder. IMO it is only a matter of time until he gets in trouble at Memphis.
congrats to KU. Here’s to another 20 years.
