It’s a [Sunday] wrap…

January 6, 2008

Well, as usual Sunday was phenomenal! What a great day at Frederick! This morning’s worship was among the best I’ve ever experienced at Frederick. Big thanks to Chad and the Worship Team who work so hard to lead us into God’s presence.

dsc05412.gifAlso, the Smith family did a wonderful job getting the Worship Center ready for the new Bible & the Bush series. It looked great when you walked in today. I recently told them that I wanted those in the audience to not only hear the message, but see it as well and they hit a home run with their decorating. You can click on the picture to the right to see it enlarged.

It was also exciting to have another young family join with us at Frederick! I am so thankful for all the new faces God is bringing us, but He seems to be sending us a number of young families, in particular. I’m very excited about that!

The men’s cake sale fundraiser for the youth was this afternoon. If you weren’t there, you need to know that my cake won a trophy! Now, in all fairness I guess I should admit that it’s because it was voted the ugliest cake, but I’ll take the trophy none-the-less. To be honest, I was really upset last night when the cake didn’t come out looking right. I’ve attached some pictures that Tracy took in between her laughter that was so hard she was gasping for air. She was amused. I was not.

Oh well, the money is going to help some of our Students on an upcoming mission trip, although I had to buy my own cake in order for it to make some money. I should add that although it looks horrible, it tastes incredible!

The pictures really don’t do the cake justice. It was much uglier than it appears in the pictures.

Well at least my Mom comes to my defense, and she’s right, it tastes incredible!

I agree that the worship Sunday morning was incredible. Chad and his group always do very well, but worship yesterday was exceptionally well done.

I also agree that the decorations for the Bible and the Bush series are outstanding. They really do add a lot to the worship.

So this made me think of the time your tried to surprise us with brownies and messed up the ingredients…those were the thinnest brownies ever…maybe you should stay away from baking!!! I love you! :)

Micah, thank you so much for the advice you gave me about ministry. I will absolutely pray about it. Oh and I forgot to tell you that you actually made a better cake than the one I made for my husband’s birthday in December. My cake was falling apart so I didn’t want to make it worse by spreading frosting on it So I put the frosting in the microwave and poured it on the cake. That was such a dumb idea, but I learned my lesson. My cake ended up looking like a sponge dipped in motor oil. My family and I were laughing hysterically. I’m sure they expected something better from me because I’ve been getting better at cooking, so they say. But it was really funny. So if I were in the contest I probably would’ve won or tied you.

Perhaps your wife, in the midst of her laughter, should be reminded of the cake that had to be renamed…….Earthquake cake. I do have a picture I could post if her mind’s eye doesn’t recall the “rumble”. :)

Now we’re talking! I need that picture. ;-)
