Presidential Update

November 29, 2007

Thanks to the popularity of Web 2.0 and the ingenuity of YouTube.com and CNN.com, their recent debate with various presidential candidates has been made available for viewing online. I didn’t watch the debate since I was at church, but I did peruse some of the video clips and particularly found myself interested in two clips. I’ve placed them below. I hope they’re helpful as you consider your support of a presidential candidate.

Thanks for posting these. Although, I don’t know who I will support, the more I hear the thoughtful answers of Governor Huckaby the more I like.

His answer about the literalness of the Scriptures was both right and smart.

That’s why Huckabee’s my man for the office. He may not win, but I’m still voting for him. Even if I have to write him in. Yes, I know. That gives “the other guy” the advantage, but honestly, I’m so sick of voting for the “lesser of two evils.” I’m not going to do it this time. I’m voting for the person I think will make the best president, even if he doesn’t get the nomination.

Thanks for posting these. People need to see them. Huckabee said a whole lot more that made sense (and missed a few opportunities too, I think… but that’s par for the course in a debate) during the debate — but those who missed it need only go to CNN’s Transcripts page and read the whole thing for themselves.

PS — It was very telling how Romney struggled when he was forced off-script (or off the Mormon script?) by Anderson Cooper on any question, but especially this one. He can’t handle it when he has to do that. And that’s not a good thing for a president-wanna-be, at least in my opinion.
