Jesus’ middle name was…Don?
Well, I goofed this morning. I was proofreading the powerpoint for worship (since we’re a small church, that’s part of the job description
). I noticed that in the slides for the song, “How Great is our God” by Chris Tomlin, the phrase “Father, Spirit and Son” was not capitalized. Many people wouldn’t be bothered by that, but it’s kind of a pet peeve of mine. So I quickly (notice the word quickly) retyped it so it would correctly be capitalized. What I didn’t notice, however, was that I inadvertently had typed the letter next to “s” in the keyboard, that being “d”. So this morning we worshipped the Father, the Spirit and the Don. I guess mafia types might have felt at home with us today. I knew I was in trouble when our Youth Pastor looked !
at me and started laughing. It will probably be a while before I live that one down.
Oh well!
Howdy! My name is Micah Fries and I am a husband, daddy and pastor who loves to discuss life, theology, culture and variety of other issues.

Micah,
Oh the bulletin stories I could tell, but I won’t. And no, I don’t think you’ll live that one down for a while.
Dorcas
And I missed it! Bummer!
Well, isn’t “Don” another word for “Godfather”?
Micah,
That’s funny. If you had been speaking Spanish for that one word, you might have been forgiven. “Don” in Spanish translates as “gift” in English. Maybe there was a subliminal thing going on there with your fingers as you typed.
There you go Micah, Gary Snowden just gave you an out. Just say that you were thinking of the Spanish word for gift. That might work at least for awhile.
My pet peeve on the overhead is when they write “your” instead of “you’re.” I don’t know why, but it just bugs me to no end. So if you had written “You’re the Don of my life,” I would not have cared at all.
This made me laugh out loud. Thanks for the chuckle.
