I have started reading a really good book. Written by John Burke, who is a former executive pastor at Willow Creek and currently is the pastor at Gateway in Austin, Texas, this is a book for our generation of churches. One of my favorite features of this book is that they include questions for conversation at the end of each chapter and it is intended to be used in small groups.
Quite possibly the best chapter in the book is chapter 8, “How do you feel about gays? The Tolerance Litmus Test-Q2”. It alone is probably worth the price of the book itself.
I’ve been thinking about providing training at our church in indigenous church methodology. This book may finally be what I’m looking for. I think we may begin teaching it in a small group format at the beginning of summer.
