Our House

Everybody else has blogged about their new homes and so I thought I’d jump in. We don’t own our home. We rent but we are convinced that God has given us an incredible gift in our home and so we’re more than satisfied. We live about 10 miles from our church and about 30 minutes north of Kansas City, in the parsonage of a local Christian church. Their pastor owns a home so they rent this one to us.

Our house is about 17 years old. It’s 1800 square feet with an 1800 square feet unfinished basement/garage. We also have about 1 acre of land with it. We have 3 bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, dining room and office. All in all we would be happy to stay in this house forever. The beautiful part about it is because the church wanted to help us when they rented it to us they did so by charging less per month than we paid while on campus at the seminary in our 800 square foot apartment. There we paid almost $500 a month.

One of our favorite things to do is to host people in our home and this home gives us the opportunity. We generally host people for dinner at least 1-2 times per week and we’ve been able to house traveling missionaries, pastors and an exchange student for one year. God blessed us with this house and we cannot be more grateful to Him for it.

We hope that sometime some of you may be in the area and we can give you a place to stay. We would love to have you!
